Free Learn to Play Hockey Camp |
|
TYHA is excited to announce the upcoming dates of the annual FREE Learn to Play Hockey Camp to be held at the Oilers Ice Center. The camp kicks off on July 17th, 2010 and gives children four, one-hour sessions of on-ice instruction. Each week there will be a special guest from the Tulsa Oilers to assist the children. The Learn to Play Hockey Camp will teach everything from learning to skate, to the basics of hockey. The camp will provide an introduction to hockey for children wanting to learn more about one of the fastest growing sports!
Camp Schedule:
- Saturday, 7/17/10 - 2:45 - 3:45pm - Equipment Distributed
- Saturday, 7/17/10 - 4:15 - 5:15pm - On-Ice Instruction Session
- Saturday, 7/24/10 - 4:15 - 5:15pm - On-Ice Instruction Session
- Saturday, 7/31/10 - 4:15 - 5:15pm - On-Ice Instruction Session
- Saturday, 8/07/10 - 4:15 - 5:15pm - On-Ice Instruction Session
- Saturday, 8/07/10 - 5:15 - 5:45pm - Return Equipment
Registration for this event is open to children who are ages 4 to 8 years old and have never played hockey with TYHA previously. All necessary protective equipment and rental skates will be provided at no charge. Players will need to provide their own hockey stick, practice jersey and hockey socks. These items are recommended, but are not mandatory for participation. Items may be purchased at the Pro Shop located inside the Oilers Ice Center.
A $75 equipment deposit and $25 non-refundable sanitizing fee will be required to reserve your spot. Upon conclusion of the camp, all equipment pieces must be returned in good condition in order to receive equipment deposit refund. Equipment sets are limited, so be sure to register now.

Required Protective Equipment |
|
All players are required to wear the following protective equipment at all times while on the ice.
- HECC approved helmet with full facemask
- Colored internal mouthpiece mandatory for players Pee Wee through Midget age - recommended for all age players
- Shoulder pads
- Elbow pads
- Gloves
- Padded hockey pants
- Protective cup
- Shin pads
- Skates - recommended to use HECC approved blades
- Neck guard mandatory for goalies - recommended for all age players
