Can you believe it, another season is in the bag and now the work begins getting ready for next year. Many of you know how hard it is to get through a season, but the hard work does not end when the season does. The players will be looking at resting for a while, then will start in on camps and training programs all designed to take their game to the next level.
The TYHA will be working hard at getting things set up for next season and trying to grow the sport of hockey in the Tulsa area. I would like to reach out to anyone interested in supporting Tulsa Youth Hockey and give you an opportunity to get involved. We are looking for volunteers to help the TYHA in some very critical aspects of making sure next season is a success. If growing hockey in Tulsa, and helping kids develop and learn is something that you are interested in, take a look at the available volunteer positions below. I have done my best to give you a summary of what the job responsibilities and expectations are, but if you have ideas or questions please don't be afraid to share.
1. Secretary/Communication Coordinator: The primary responsibility of this position is to attend the TYHA Board meetings and record and publish the minutes. This will allow for the Association to be informed on decisions and programs that are upcoming. Job responsibilities also include sending out the TYHA newsletter and informing the Association of any global communications (Tournaments, events, clinics, etc).
2. Web Master: The primary responsibility of this position is to update the TYHA web site with news articles, board meeting minutes and any other information that needs to be communicated to the Association. This position does not require any web design as the web design will remain the same.
3. Public Relations: The primary responsibility of this position will be to communicate with the Tulsa and surrounding area media to get information out regarding TYHA and all the events such as registration, learn to skate, games, etc. This position will be a liaison between TYHA and the local media.
4. Recruiter: The primary responsibility of this position is to reach out to the local schools to promote youth hockey at the mite, squirt and pee wee levels.
We are needing dedicated volunteers with a passion for youth hockey to fill these roles. If you have an interest in any of the above volunteer positions please contact any member of the TYHA board by May 10th, 2009.
Thanks,
Daniel Gomilar
TYHA President
